The Groom, The Garden, and His Best Friend

One of the things I love most about photographing small weddings…

Is that the most emotional moments are often the quiet ones.

Not the ceremony.

Not the speeches.

Not even the dancing.

Sometimes, it’s what happens in the in-between.

A moment that wasn’t planned.

A moment no one else even noticed.

But one that holds so much meaning.

I Found Him in the Garden

This photograph happened completely by accident.

Or maybe… not accident.

I was photographing the bride celebrating with her friends — laughing, dancing, soaking up the joy of the day.

And then I realised I hadn’t seen the groom for a little while.

So I did what I often do at weddings…

I looked around.

I wandered.

I followed my curiosity.

And out in the garden, away from the noise, I found him.

Just a Groom and His Dog

He was crouched down quietly, checking in on his four-legged best friend.

No audience.

No performance.

Just a private moment of connection.

And honestly?

It stopped me in my tracks.

Because it was so simple…

And so full of heart.

Small Weddings Leave Room for Moments Like This

This is something I notice again and again with intimate weddings.

There’s space.

Space to breathe.

Space to step away for a second.

Space to remember that the day isn’t just about traditions…

It’s about life.

And the people — and pets — who are part of it.

A Moment That Will Matter Later

Years from now, this couple will look back on their gallery and see the celebration…

The ceremony…

The laughter…

But they’ll also see this.

The groom, taking a quiet pause, sharing a moment with his dog.

And they’ll remember what it felt like.

The love.
