The Bridesmaids Escape...

Small weddings have a kind of magic to them.

They’re intimate, relaxed, deeply personal…

And often, they leave room for the moments that aren’t planned at all.

Not the posed ones.

Not the traditional ones.

But the real ones.

The in-between moments that happen when everyone forgets the timeline for a second and simply exists inside the day.

This photograph is one of those moments.

The Heat Was Intense

This wedding day was sweltering.

The kind of summer heat that clings to your skin, where the sun feels relentless and there isn’t much shade to hide under.

Everyone was doing their best — hair, makeup, dresses, suits — all while trying not to melt.

We were about to head down for some beach group photos, and I was gathering everyone together…

When I suddenly realised…

I couldn’t find the bridesmaids.

Where Had They Gone?

I looked around.

I wandered through the garden.

I checked behind trees and along the path…

And then I heard it.

Laughter.

That unmistakable kind of laughter that only comes when people are sharing a moment they’ll talk about later.

It was coming from the car.

And there they were.

Air Conditioning, Refuge, and Real Life

The bridesmaids had escaped.

All piled into the car, dresses everywhere, doors shut, air conditioning blasting like it was a five-star spa.

They weren’t trying to be glamorous.

They weren’t posing.

They were just taking five minutes of relief in the middle of a very hot day.

And honestly?

It was perfect.

Because it was real.

It was joyful.

If you’re planning a small wedding and want your photographs to tell the full story — the big moments and the quiet ones — I’d love to chat.
