There Will Never Be a Perfect Time To Have Your Photo Taken...

I’ve heard just about every reason for putting off a photo session.

“I’ll do it when I lose a bit of weight.”

“I’m too old.”

“I don’t know what I’d wear.”

“I’m too busy.”

“I’d rather just have photos of the kids.”

And I understand every single one of them.

Because most of us are waiting for something. To feel more confident. To lose a few kilos. To have more time. To get our hair sorted. To feel a little more like the person we think we should be before we step in front of a camera.

But the trouble with waiting for the perfect time is that life doesn't wait with us.

The kids grow up. Families change. We get older. Another year quietly rolls around.

And one day, the photographs that matter most probably won't be the ones where everyone was the perfect weight, wearing the perfect outfit or having the perfect hair day.

They'll be the photographs that simply show you were there.

Years from now, your children and grandchildren won't look at a photograph of you and think about the things you were worrying about that day.

They'll see your smile. Your eyes. The way you looked at that stage of your life.

They might notice that they have your nose, your expression or the same smile.

They'll see their person. Their mum. Their grandmother. Their family.

And that's something worth being in the photograph for.

So perhaps instead of waiting until you feel completely ready, photograph the woman you are now.

Because she matters too.
