From Nerves to Knockout: 5 Tips for Loving Every Moment of Your Boudoir Shoot.

Own It, Gorgeous: A Feel-Good Guide to Enjoying Your Boudoir Experience

So, you’ve booked your boudoir session—eeek, how exciting! If you’re feeling a mix of nerves and anticipation, you’re not alone. The truth is, standing in lingerie in front of a camera isn’t something most of us do every day—but that’s exactly what makes this experience so powerful.

Here are 5 simple ways to help you feel confident, prepared, and totally in your element.

1. First Things First – Feel Confident in Your Photographer

This might be the most important one: choose a photographer you trust. You want to feel comfortable, supported, and seen—especially in your most vulnerable moments. Your boudoir session is a personal journey, so working with someone who gets you makes all the difference.

Check out their portfolio and social media to see if their style matches your vibe. Hop on a call or grab a coffee if you can—this is a great way to chat through ideas and see if the energy feels right.

Think about what kind of session you’re dreaming of:
• What’s your boudoir style—soft and romantic, bold and sexy, playful and fun?
• Are there any special lingerie pieces, props, or accessories you want to include?

Most photographers (myself included!) will send you a Welcome Guide to help you prep, style, and feel ready for your session. If not—don’t be shy about asking. This is your time to shine, and your photographer is there to support you every step of the way.

2. Invest in Self-Care (Start Early!)

While you’ll be pampered with professional hair and makeup on the day, give yourself a little extra love in the lead-up. Start at least a couple of weeks before your shoot and use it as an excuse to prioritise yourself.

• Drink lots of water—hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
• Use gentle body scrubs, face masks, and nourishing moisturisers.
• Schedule a relaxing bath or at-home spa night.

Even if you’ve got a full schedule or little ones at home, try to carve out small pockets of time for yourself. It all helps you feel more relaxed, radiant, and ready.

3. Check Your Nails, Hair, and Body Grooming

This is all about how you feel your best.

Think about getting a manicure in the days before your session—your hands appear in more photos than you might think. Make sure there’s no chipped polish and that your nails (and feet!) are clean and cared for.

If you colour your hair, book in a touch-up at least a week before your session. Regrowth can be tricky to edit and a fresh hair refresh always feels fab.

As for body hair? That’s completely up to you. Shave, wax, or leave it natural—there’s no right or wrong here. It’s about what makes you feel most confident.

And remember: this is your permission slip to indulge in all the things you normally don’t make time for. You deserve it.

4. On the Day… Breathe. You’ve Got This.

Yes, you’re going to feel nervous. That’s normal. Every single woman does—even the ones who look ultra-confident in their photos.

But here’s the thing: I’ve got you. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be taken care of. We’ll ease into the session with hair and makeup, a chat, and maybe a few laughs. Before you know it, you’ll be striking poses you didn’t even know you had in you.

This is about fun, freedom, and celebrating yourself. Don’t overthink it—just enjoy the moment.

5. After Your Session – Celebrate!

You just did something incredible—something bold, beautiful, and entirely for you. So why not keep the energy going?

Plan a special dinner, a night out with friends, or a cozy date with your partner. You’ll be glowing inside and out, and you deserve to soak up that empowered, radiant feeling.
